Chief Judge Randall R. Rader will give the keynote address at a program titled "The Legal System and Patent Damages" at the University of California Boalt Hall School of Law on Monday, October 18, 2010.  This program is jointly sponsored by the Berkeley Center for Law & Technology and the Federal Circuit Bar Association.  More information is available at this link.

The Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit will be closed on Friday, November 26, 2010, Thursday, December 23, 2010, and Thursday, December 30, 2010. The court's order about the closings is available at this link .

Circuit Judge Alan D. Lourie will receive the Third Annual PIPLA Award for Outstanding Intellectual Property Achievement at the Annual Judges’ Dinner of the Philadelphia Intellectual Property Law Association on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Circuit Judge S. Jay Plager will give this fall’s Sidney Katz Lecture at The George Washington University Law School.  The title of his talk will be “The Rule of Uncertainty—Judicial Levers and Patent Policy.”  The event will take place on Wednesday evening, October 20, 2010, the night before the start of the AIPLA Annual Meeting in Washington, DC.  Click here  for a printable flier.

Chief Judge Rader has selected Edward R. Reines to be the new chair of the Federal Circuit Advisory Committee. The other new members are Tina M. Chappell, Richard J. “Chip” Lutton, John M. Whealan, and Katherine White. Lisa Dolak, a current member of the Advisory Council, has been appointed to a new three-year term. The new appointments are effective on October 1, 2010.
