The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit hosted a reception for the delegates at the 55th Annual Meeting of the International Association of Judges on Tuesday, November 13, 2012. Chief Judge Randall Rader extended a warm welcome to the group on behlaf of the court. Justice Sonia Sotomayor spoke at the event.

Circuit Judge Richard Linn will receive the Fifth Annual PIPLA Award for Outstanding Intellectual Property Achievement at the Annual Judges’ Dinner of the Philadelphia Intellectual Property Law Association on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Circuit Judge Richard Linn retired from active status on October 31, 2012.  He will continue to hear cases at the Federal Circuit as a circuit judge in senior status. Judge Linn has been a member of the court for close to thirteen years, having been appointed by President William Jefferson Clinton in 2000. Judge Linn was sworn in at midnight on January 1, 2000, the first federal judge to be sworn in to the Third Branch at the dawn of the 21st Century.

The Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit will reopen on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at 9:00 a.m.

The Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit will be closed on Tuesday, October 30, 2012.  For purposes of computation of time and for motions to enlarge time under Fed. R. App. Proc. 26 and Fed. Cir. R. 26, Tuesday, October 30, 2012, will be considered a "legal holiday".
