Announcements in 2018

Beginning January 2, 2019, the court will be changing its argument scheduling practices in an effort to reduce further the time between when a case is calendar-ready and is scheduled for oral argument.  Full details of this change can be found here.

The United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit will be closed on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, in observance of the National Day of Mourning for George H.W. Bush. Arguments scheduled for December 5, 2018, will be rescheduled. For purposes of computation of time and motions to enlarge time under Fed. R. App. P. 26 and Fed. Cir. R. 26, December 5th will be considered a “legal holiday.” Click here for the order.

The new edition of the Federal Circuit Rules of Practice is available on the court’s website.  The Electronic Filing Procedures have also been updated regarding revised procedures for briefs and appendices.  These procedures are available on the court’s website.

On December 1, 2018, the Clerk’s Office will implement two changes to its filing procedures for briefs and appendices: (1) discontinuation of the brief “tendering” practice and (2) deferment of filing of paper copies pursuant to new amendments to the Federal Circuit Rules of Practice.  Please see the new Information Sheet: Revised Brief and Appendix Filing Procedures for information on how to file briefs and appendices under the new procedures.

Due to a system upgrade, CM/ECF will have limited electronic filing functionality and accessibility between 7:00 a.m.- 7:00 p.m. (Eastern) on Saturday, November 17, 2018.
