Announcements in 2018

Effective October 22, 2018, the Clerk’s Office will begin issuing revised versions of its notices for cases scheduled for oral argument, for cases submitted without oral argument, and for counsel to advise of scheduling conflicts for oral argument.  The full notice of this change, including information about the new notices, forms, and resources, is available here.

The United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit proposes to amend Federal Circuit Rules of Practice 25, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, and 44, effective December 1, 2018. Public comments must be submitted by email to chiefdeputyclerk@cafc.uscourts.gov or by mail to the Clerk’s Office on or before October 31, 2018.  The full notice and proposed amendments are available here.

Beginning October 1, 2018, the Clerk’s Office is revising its procedure for docketing opinions and judgments.  Litigants, members of the bar, and the public may notice a change in how these items appear on the court’s docket as of that date.  Please direct any questions or concerns regarding the change to the Court Services team at (202) 275-8035.

Pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 1913, the Judicial Conference of the United States has approved a new fee for copies of records in electronic form when those records are neither stored in CM/ECF nor available on PACER.  The new fee will become effective September 1, 2018.  An updated and expanded fee schedule is available on our website.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit is pleased to announce that it is sitting in Chicago, Illinois as part of its October 2018 session. The Federal Circuit will also hold its regular session in Washington, D.C.  Additional details are available here
