I am pleased to invite you to attend the Judicial Conference of the
United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on Thursday, May 15,
2008.
The court's Advisory Council has planned an exciting conference
covering all aspects of the court's jurisdiction. Topics of interest concerning
every tribunal reviewed by the Federal Circuit will be discussed.
Federal Circuit Judges will moderate three panels during the
morning session: (1) a panel of trial judges, (2) a panel of corporate general
counsels on client perspectives in litigation, and (3) an en banc panel
of active and senior Federal Circuit judges that will focus on advocacy
techniques.
Chief Justice Roberts will speak briefly at lunch. Our keynote
speaker will be the Honorable Paul D. Clement, the 43rd Solicitor General of
the United States.
Afternoon breakout sessions are scheduled on subject matter areas
relating to each of the following tribunals and topics: the United States Court
of Federal Claims and Boards of Contract Appeals, International Trade
Commission and Court of International Trade, the United States Court of Appeals
for Veterans Claims, Merit Systems Protection Board, and Patent and Trademark.
Significant updates on the court's website, the mediation program,
and rule changes also will be addressed.
I look forward to seeing you at the Conference.
Paul R. Michel
Chief Judge
