Advisory Council

The Advisory Council for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit was established pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 2077(b) to review, study, and make recommendations regarding the Federal Circuit Rules of Practice and Internal Operating Procedures of the court.  Administrative Order 2021-11 (pdf) establishes the procedures and membership for the Advisory Council.

The Advisory Council also serves as a conduit between the public and the court regarding the court’s procedural rules.

Question, comments, or suggestions for improvement to the Federal Circuit’s Rules of Practice or Internal Operating Procedures may be directed to the Advisory Council by mail to Advisory Council, c/o Circuit Executive and Clerk of Court, United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, 717 Madison Place, N.W., Washington, DC 20439.

The Advisory Council can neither assist nor intervene in cases before the court.  The Advisory Council is also not involved in Judicial Conduct or Judicial Disability matters.  Any questions or concerns about pending or final decisions of the Federal Circuit should be directed to the Clerk’s Office.  Judicial Conduct and Disability information is available on our website.
