Appointment of Advisory Council Members

Chief Judge Kimberly A. Moore has appointed Jennifer H. Wu of Groombridge, Wu, Baughman & Stone LLP to the Advisory Council for the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. The appointment is for a term of three years and is effective June 30, 2025. The full announcement is available on the court’s website (pdf).

Updated Court Sessions Calendar

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has approved updates to the 2025-2026 sessions calendar. The updated calendar is available on the court’s website.

New Caption Generation Function in CM/ECF

On May 27, 2025, the court will launch a new caption generation utility for filers. This feature will allow parties and counsel associated with a case to easily generate the most up-to-date version of the case caption.

This new functionality will be found under the Utilities tab on the landing screen after logging into CM/ECF. Parties will have the option to either view the official case caption or save it in Word or HTML formats.

The court’s Electronic Filing Procedures will be updated on that date to reflect this addition.

Implementation of Multifactor Authentication for CM/ECF

On Sunday, May 11, 2025, the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts will begin implementing multifactor authentication (MFA) to enhance system security for CM/ECF and PACER.  CM/ECF users should enroll in MFA at their earliest convenience to preserve uninterrupted access and avoid missing filing deadlines.  Users who do not voluntarily enroll in MFA will be randomly selected for mandatory enrollment starting in August 2025.  All CM/ECF users must be enrolled in MFA to maintain system access by December 31, 2025.  MFA enrollment will be optional for PACER-only access.

Service Availability for April 25, 2025

On April 25, 2025, the Clerk’s Office and Circuit Library will be temporarily unavailable for public services and support from 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. (Eastern). Nonelectronic filings and materials may be deposited in the night drop box on H Street, N.W. Electronic filing will remain available.

Release of Materials in Judicial Investigation

Pursuant to Judge Newman’s request under Rule 23(b)(7) and pursuant to Rule 23(b)(8), the materials below are being released. 

Prior documents in this matter can be found on the court’s website. Neither the Judicial Council, Special Committee, nor the court are providing any additional statements at this time.

Operating Status for January 7, 2025

Due to inclement weather, the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit will be closed to the public on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.  However, arguments for Panel C will be held in person and begin at 10:00 a.m.; counsel can begin checking in at 9:00 a.m. Arguments for Panel D will be conducted by remote videoconferencing and will begin at 10:00 a.m.  Clerk’s Office staff will be notifying counsel and reaching out to panel members with additional instructions.

Electronic case filing remains available through CM/ECF, and electronic filing deadlines remain in effect. Paper filings due on January 6 and 7, 2025, will be deemed as timely filed if received by the next day the court is open to the public.

Telework-ready staff should be prepared to begin teleworking at their normal start times.  Unscheduled leave is authorized as approved by supervisors.
